A rapid transit link between Richmond and Vancouver has been part of regional planning policy since 1980. Now, with the significant growth in Richmond, in downtown Vancouver and, in particular, at the Vancouver International Airport, we are exploring a rapid transit connection between these regional destinations.
The Richmond/Airport - Vancouver Rapid Transit project is a cooperative effort to determine whether or not it is time to make these plans a reality and build a rapid transit line between Richmond, the Airport and downtown Vancouver by 2010... or, wait until a later date. In other words, this study addresses the question of timing, and will explore the relative costs and benefits of building a rapid transit line by 2010 versus 2021 or later.
